Getting Started

Get your WordPress site translated in under 5 minutes

Download the Plugin

Click the download button to get the latest version of Translio as a ZIP file. No registration required.

Upload to WordPress

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins β†’ Add New β†’ Upload Plugin. Click "Choose file" and select the downloaded translio.zip file.

  • Go to Plugins β†’ Add New
  • Click "Upload Plugin" button
  • Click "Choose file" and select translio.zip
  • Click "Install Now"

Activate the Plugin

After installation completes, click "Activate Plugin". Translio will appear in your WordPress sidebar menu.

Get Your Free License

Go to Translio β†’ Settings. Enter your email address and click "Get Free License Key". You'll instantly receive 20,000 free characters for translation.

Configure Languages

Set your default language (your site's current language) and choose the translation language. The URL prefix will be automatically configured (e.g., /de/ for German).

Start Translating

You're ready! Go to Translio β†’ Dashboard to see your content overview and start translating.

Using Translio

Dashboard

The Dashboard gives you an overview of your translation progress. See total items, translated content, pending translations, and overall progress percentage. Each content type (Posts, Pages, Menus, etc.) shows its own progress bar.

All Content

View and manage all your translatable content in one place. Filter by content type, translation status, or search by title. Click "Translate" on any item to translate it, or use "Translate All Untranslated" for bulk translation.

Theme Strings

Translate theme and plugin text strings that appear on your site. Use "Scan Active Theme" to find all translatable strings. You can auto-translate visible strings or translate all untranslated at once.

Media

Translate image alt text and titles for better SEO in all languages. The Media section shows all images with their translation status. Important for accessibility and multilingual SEO.

Settings

Configure your license, languages, and language switcher options. Set up how the language switcher appears on your site β€” in navigation menus, as a dropdown, or using a shortcode.

Add a language switcher to your site

Navigation Menu

Automatically add the switcher to your navigation menu. Enable "Add to Navigation Menu" in Settings and choose the menu location.

Shortcode

Place the language switcher anywhere using the shortcode:

[translio_switcher]

Parameters: style="dropdown|inline|flags", show_flags="yes|no", show_names="yes|no"

Widget

Add the "Translio Language Switcher" widget from Appearance β†’ Widgets to any widget area.

Translate Important Content First

Start with your homepage, main pages, and navigation menus. These have the highest impact on visitor experience.

Review AI Translations

While Claude AI provides excellent quality, always review translations for brand-specific terms, product names, and specialized vocabulary.

Use BYOAI for High Volume

If you have a large site, connect your own Anthropic API key for unlimited translations at direct API rates.
